Can anyone suggest some direct (NOT narrative) MEN's monologues from published plays?
I am a BFA theatre major and need to prepare two contrasting monologues for my final exam in my acting class. Please don't be immature. This is a serious question directed to other actors/actresses, directors, and other appreciators of live theatre. So please don't reply unless you know what you're talking about. Please also understand that I'm not being lazy. If need be, I'll just barricade myself in the library and find monologues by myself as I have been doing this entire year. The only reason I'm asking is that I want to try a different type of monologue than I have been doing most of this year. I'm having trouble finding different kinds of monologues, and I thought it might behoove me to ask the public in hopes that another actor might see it and have some suggestions. I've done a lot of work on love monologues and vulnerable characters, and I'd like to try something new. I would like to play an angry, bitter, resentful, or otherwise just a very powerful monologue. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated even if they don't fit that type. Just be sure that the monologue is DIRECT and NOT NARRATIVE. I don't want to be telling a story. I want to be directly speaking to another character. I know this is a large order to fill...... Please include in your answer the title of the play and the playwright's name. Thanks in advance! :)
