Haven't been to orthodontist in 3 years and embarrassed to go back!! Help!!?

I haven't been to the orthodontist in 3 years due to financial problems. I am now finally able to pay the balance in full and continue my treatment. Should I be embarrassed about this and worry about the things the orthodontist and assistants will have to say? I've kept my teeth pretty healthy and continued my 6 month dental cleanings/checkups. Or am I putting too much thought into it?
